The Salvation Army Rockland County Corps is hosting its 9th Annual “Doing the Most Good” Awards Breakfast on Thursday, May 8th to recognize and honor organizations and people that reflect the nonprofit’s mission of giving back to the community, helping those in need and doing the most good in Rockland County.
The 2014 “Doing the Most Good” recipients are Better Homes and Gardens/Rand Realty, Jawonio, and Orange & Rockland’s Vice President of Customer Service, Edwin J. Ortiz, who is the Immediate Past-Chair of The Salvation Army Rockland County Corps Advisory Board.
Major Marcus Jugenheimer, Rockland County Coordinator, said The Salvation Army is proud to recognize this year’s recipients and invites colleagues, friends, family and the general public to attend the May 8th, 2014 Breakfast, which will be held 8 a.m. – 9:30 a.m., at The Salvation Army Eastern Territory Headquarters, 440 West Nyack Road in West Nyack. Tickets are $35.00 each and can be purchased in advance by calling The Salvation Army Spring Valley office at (845)352-9577.
Major Jugenheimer said Better Homes and Gardens/Rand Realty was selected for its exemplary corporate culture of giving and service to nonprofits; Jawonio for its red kettle work partnership with The Salvation Army and for being a premier provider of lifespan services in New York’s Hudson Valley for people with developmental disabilities, behavioral health challenges and chronic medical needs; and Mr. Ortiz for his years of service to the Advisory Board, three years as its Chair, and his continued support of the organization. Music teaching and education tutoring, family service programs to help families and needy individuals with emergency food, housing, utility assistance and other temporal needs are among services provided by The Salvation Army in Rockland County.
