Jawonio is thrilled to honor the Honorable Paul Piperato, Rockland County Clerk at its 2019 Harvest Brunch event on November 3rd! Paul will be presented with the Jawonio Friends Award, which recognizes members of the community who have made a significant impact on the lives of children and adults with special needs.
Paul Piperato and wife, Flora, found Jawonio when their daughter Danielle was evaluated as an infant and fitted with hearing aids by Jawonio Audiology services, over 27 years ago. The family has stayed connected with Jawonio ever since.
Paul entered Rockland County Government 1988 as a Budget Examiner in the Rockland County Finance Department. He served as Rockland’s Deputy County Clerk for 16 years before being elected to County Clerk in 2005. He is currently in his fourth term. He also served as Councilman in the Town of Haverstraw for two four-year terms from 1997-2005.

Paul has been an innovator in his professional career. He was instrumental in the creation of a Rockland County website offering 24/7 online access to records, the Mobile Passport Service and one of the first counties in NYS to offer eFiling and eRecording of records. He established the “Return the F.A.V.OR. Veteran Discount Program which has been replicated in 52 other NY counties. He served as President of the New York State Association of County Clerks. Paul has also put his heart into being active and involved in community organizations. He currently serves on the Hometown Heroes Committee for the Jawonio Capital Campaign and is on the Board of the ARC Foundation, YMCA of Rockland and Rockland Organ Donation Alliance. He has also been involved in the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Haverstraw Elks, Haverstraw Chamber of commerce, Sons of Italy, NAACP in addition to coaching soccer and softball and involvement in the Haverstraw Police Athletic League.
Throughout his life, Paul has dedicated himself to serving on the boards of many organizations and continues to make a difference every day as he advocates for those most in need in our community. His generous support for Jawonio and the families with special needs that it serves, is endless and deeply appreciated.

Paul is a lifelong resident of Rockland County, was born in Suffern and graduated from North Rockland High School and St. Thomas Aquinas College. Paul lives in Thiells with his lovely wife of 32 years, Flora. They are most proud and thankful for their three wonderful daughters Danielle, Nicole and Jamie, daughter-in-law, Sarah, and their beautiful grandchild, Tonks, age 2.
