A Message from Randi Rios-Castro, CEO

We Are Stronger Together
During these challenging times, we need your help and advocacy more than ever! We are stronger together and our collective voices will help spring us forward! In 2025, we will continue to focus on the critical issue of protecting Medicaid for people with special needs. Medicaid is a lifeline to so many in our community and it upholds the fundamental right to live with dignity and independence. Upon reading my message below, I hope that you will join us in our advocacy effort.
Just as seasons change, so too does the landscape in which we operate. Since last December, many of you have joined our intensive advocacy efforts at both the state and federal levels. In March, we hosted our 2nd “Rally in the Valley” in collaboration with CP State Association, the NY Disability Advocates, ARC of NY and NY Alliance for Innovation and Inclusion as well as 30 other agencies from New York State . Thousands of us raised our voices at Clover Stadium, shared compelling stories, and presented critical data to our NYS Legislators and Federal officials. For those of you in attendance, we are so grateful for your participation and your passion. Your dedication during this period, that included trips to Albany, calls to your legislators, signing letters and attending the rally have been instrumental in our advocacy work.
Despite these efforts, we find ourselves navigating a persistent and concerning threat environment and the possibility of large cuts to the Medicaid system. The potential impact of cuts to Medicaid cannot be overstated. Reductions or adverse changes in these areas will have a direct impact on the people we support, their well-being, independence and access to the vital care they need and deserve. The challenges are substantial.
We need your continued help to keep our advocacy efforts going strong. While spring often brings optimism, we must remain vigilant and actively engaged. The threats to these essential services require a sustained, year-round commitment from all of us. We need you to stay informed, share our advocacy alerts, contact your elected officials when needed, and continue championing the importance of these programs within your own networks. Your voice, amplified alongside ours, is crucial to the potential consequences of detrimental policy shifts at the Federal level.
Even amidst these external pressures, I remain inspired by the incredible work that continues within our organization every single day. Our dedicated staff provides exceptional and compassionate care to the children and adults in our Rockland and Westchester County programs, driven by an unwavering commitment to our mission. Together, we celebrate successes and see the everyday difference we make in the lives of those we support.
Finally, as we approach Passover and Easter, may their powerful messages of overcoming adversity and embracing renewal inspire our journey forward together. I wish you and your families who celebrate, a happy, healthy and joyous holiday.
With sincere gratitude,
