LEGO LOVE: Building Community, Creativity, and Inclusion:
How Jawonio and Brick It Again Come Together for Brick-A-Palooza
Since 1947, Jawonio has been dedicated to advancing the independence, well-being, and equality of people with special needs. Known as “the place where miracles happen every day,” Jawonio provides lifespan services in Rockland and Westchester Counties for children and adults with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and chronic medical needs. Our mission has always been clear: to empower individuals, foster inclusion, and strengthen our community.
One of the most innovative ways we bring our mission to life is through the Brick It Again Lego® Resale Store in Rockland County. This unique shop sells donated LEGO® sets, hosts creative classes, birthday parties, and special events — but it’s much more than just a store. Brick It Again serves as a vocational training hub, offering individuals with disabilities valuable job experience, customer service skills, and social-emotional growth. Every brick sorted, every set sold, and every interaction is another opportunity to build confidence and create pathways to employment.

This year, our passion for creativity and inclusion will be on full display at Brick-A-Palooza, the inaugural LEGO®-inspired community celebration presented by the Jawonio Foundation, happening Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10 AM to 4 PM (RAIN OR SHINE) at the Jawonio Main Campus in New City, NY.
Brick-A-Palooza will feature something for everyone:
- Toy & Collectible Marketplace with LEGO® sets, custom builds, and creative products
- LEGO® Creation Zone where guests can build and display their own masterpieces
- Sensory Play Areas designed for individuals of all abilities
- Live music, entertainment, and food trucks to keep the day lively and delicious
The event is more than a fun day for LEGO® enthusiasts, families, and students — it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and the incredible potential within each person. Proceeds from Brick-A-Palooza will directly support Jawonio’s programs, ensuring we can continue to provide essential services for individuals with disabilities in the Hudson Valley.
As Randi Rios Castro, CEO of Jawonio, shares
“This event exemplifies our dedication to creating opportunities for all and bringing the entire community together to learn more about us, people with special needs, and our Brick It Again Lego Resale® Store.”
We invite you to join us in building not just with bricks, but with compassion, opportunity, and hope. Together, we can create a stronger, more inclusive future — one LEGO® at a time.
