In September, 2023, Governor Hochul Announced $13 Million in Grant awards to Nonprofit Service Providers like us. Out of the total funding, Jawonio received approximately $1.6 million to provide Career Training Opportunities and Vocational Services for People With Developmental Disabilities. Press release Here

Retail Boot Camp

About Jawonio Retail Boot Camp

The Jawonio Retail Boot Camp is designed to prepare individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD) for career pathways in the retail industry.


  • Develop marketable skills for the retail industry
  • Get hands on experience
  • Learn about cashiering, customer service, teamwork, cleaning, communication, stocking/inventory, loss prevention


  • Participants must be OPWDD Eligible & unemployed

Training Sessions
(75 hours)

  • Three 2 ½ hours classroom sessions per week for 10 weeks
  • Classes will be offered in both Rockland and Westchester Counties
  • A minimum of 25 hours of hands-on work experience at local retail stores
