Paul Piperato loved Jawonio. As one of our Jawonio Hometown Heroes, Paul was involved in every aspect of our events, programs and one of the biggest cheerleaders for our capital campaign. We were especially grateful to honor and recognize Paul in 2019 with our Jawonio Friends Award.

As you may know, Jawonio will be moving from our current trailers into our new 70,000 sq foot health care facility next month. On the 2nd floor, there is a beautiful room featuring floor to ceiling glass windows, a fireplace and will soon have couches, tables and chairs creating the feel of a “family room”. We could not imagine a better way to pay tribute to Paul than to name this space: The Paul Piperato Family Suite. Paul was all about family. He was a loyal friend and he loved Rockland County. For families with special needs children and adults, this room will be a safe, warm and welcoming place to discuss hopes, dreams and aspirations as well as the challenges along the way. With your generosity and support, the Paul Piperato Family Suite will be a testament to Paul’s humanity and compassion for others, the community he loved and the thousands of families yet to come.

The entire Jawonio family would like to recognize and thank Paul’s brother John for leading this fundraising effort with incredible and unconditional love and care.
Excerpt from Paul Piperato Obituary (June 19, 1958-May 6, 2020) Paul was a people person to his very core. With a moment notice, Paul was ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. This trait led to his involvement in numerous non-profit community organizations. You often found Paul at events showing support and networking to make his community stronger. Paul’s passing is deeply felt not only by his family but by all who knew him.

Survived by his wife, Flora Piperato, whom he married April 25, 1987; his three daughters Nicole, Jamie, Danielle; daughter-in-law Sarah; grandchild Tonks; siblings Judy Hamilton and John (Amy) Piperato; cousins Gail (Bill) Bishop, Louise (Rich) Johnston, Kathleen Martucci, Mary Lynn Carregal, and John “Jackie” Mancuso; nieces and nephews Colleen (Jim) Proctor, Edward (Anne) Hamilton, Kathryn (Mike) Natale, Kim Piperato, John Piperato, Alexa Piperato, Vincent Piperato.

The Piperato Family is overwhelmed by the love and support being shown by the community who loved him. Thank you. Please lead by his example, hold each other close in your thoughts and actions, serve others, be kind.
