About the Jawonio Foundation

The Jawonio Foundation's mission is to support the programs and services of Jawonio as the premiere provider of lifespan services for people with developmental disabilities, behavioral health challenges and chronic medical needs.

The Jawonio Foundation is a registered 501c3 organization.
Donations are accepted through grants, individual and private donations as well as corporate sponsorship.

A miracle happens at Jawonio every single day. We see it. Our children and adults experience it. Their families are heartened by it. Bolstered by this, and the accomplishments of our nearly 70 years, we are confident that our many friends will come together with businesses, foundations and other sources to create a philanthropic partnership of historic proportions. In so doing, they will join with us in creating a future in which the miracles are commonplace, and lives are changed immeasurably, and enhanced every day.

Campus Redevelopment Project

Jawonio broke ground in November of 2017 on our $18 million dollar redevelopment of our 16-acre campus. The scope of work includes the demolition of several buildings, construction of a two-story, 72,091-square-foot building, and construction of three new multipurpose cabins for the Jawonio Summer Education Program ("Camp Jawonio"). Summer Education Cabin construction was completed in June of 2018. Construction on the new main building began in early December of 2018.

Additionally, the New City Rotary Club is sponsoring the Jawonio Therapeutic Nature Path, that will be adjacent to the Summer Education area, and will be a fully accessible outdoor area used for student therapies, education, and learning, where all can embrace the beauty of the outdoors. This newly designed Nature Path will support children with special needs along the way, and will expand classrooms to the outdoors by making nature more accessible.

Our mission has remained steadfast. We are determined to provide broad-based solutions for the people we serve and be a place of respite for these individuals and their families. It is no longer possible to do this optimally without a facility that allows us to gather our many services collaboratively under one roof, in a setting commensurate with the quality of our programs, the people who provide them, and every child and adult who receives them.
